Working Project: EU in the UK
Following the UK-EU referendum in June 2016, and in an the wake of Brexit, this project explores citizenship, identity and belonging of (non-UK) EU citizens resident in the UK. It explores how the UK's changing relationship has affected, and is affecting, the choices, opportunities and identities of those whose rights to remain in the UK are predicted on rights derived from the UK's membership of the EU, and the renegotiation of this relationship.
For the project, I am conducting a longitudinal survey. The first (2016) and second (2017) wave have been completed with >3,000 responses. A summary of the 2017 data is available here. In the longer term, I am planning to conduct interviews to gain richer and more immersive data.
